The long distance is the top class of triathlon. A few seconds decide whether you are at the top of the podium or not.
Important? The right tools.
The new uvex race 8 is one of them and has already convinced top athletes like Timo Bracht, Laura Philipp or the Challenge Roth winner 2017: Bart Aernouts. The helmet was developed by uvex engineers and the athletes of the BMC Etixx Pro Triathlon Team. With the help of German triathlete Laura Philipp, the uvex race 8 was further optimised.
To improve aerodynamics, it therefore has a shortened drop shape. Specially arranged dimples, depressions familiar from golf balls, are placed on the side of the helmet shell. They reduce air resistance and avoid turbulence. The front ventilation opening is placed at the point of maximum dynamic pressure. In this way the airflow is directed around and through the helmet.
The magnetic visor in litemirror smoke (S1) can be operated with one hand, fits completely into the helmet and closes seamlessly. When not in use, it can simply be placed in a specially designed parking position on the helmet. The shape of the helmet optimally shields the shoulder area and allows air to flow out with little turbulence at the back of the head and back.
This is how measurements in the wind tunnel with the uvex race 8 show significant savings in power and time. The higher the speed, the more watts are saved. In tests with uvex athletes, wind resistance savings in the overall system were up to 4.2% compared to the previous model.
With the uvex IAS system, helmets can be adjusted in their width. After all, everyone has their own individual head. However, heads differ not only in their circumference, but also in their height.
The uvex monomatic comfort closure can be opened and closed with one hand.
FAS belt strap system
The Fast-Adapting-System webbing can be easily and infinitely adjusted exactly to your head shape. This keeps the helmet firmly on your head in all situations and the strap always stays in the optimal position.
