It was developed on the basis of Pirelli's vast experience in motorsport, on four and two wheels, on the road and off-road. The Pirelli SmartNET Silica is a groundbreaking innovation in bicycle tyre rubber compound technology: Thanks to the construction of nano-rods and the resulting formation of a mesh, combined with the silica's inherent chemical affinity with water, it overcomes the traditional compulsion to compromise in rubber compounds and achieves high performance in contrasting properties such as rolling and wet grip, mileage and puncture protection.
The P Zero Velo TT was developed on a 127 tpi carcass and features Pirelli's functionally optimised tread grooves and ideal contour forming technology: the carcass fabric is designed to match the contour and provide optimum ground pressure, while different centre and sidewall radii guarantee controlled and specific deformation of the tyre at different speeds and inclination angles. Added to this is the flash-like groove design, which is based on our experience in the development of motorcycle racing tyres. It provides optimum water drainage at different angles and forces, but also keeps noise levels low and ensures short warm-up times. This guarantees immediate, maximum grip.
